«Το Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλίας ιδρύθηκε το 1984 με έδρα τον Βόλο και έχει εγκαταστάσεις στον Βόλο, τη Λάρισα, την Καρδίτσα, τα Τρίκαλα και τη Λαμία. Προσφέρει προγράμματα σπουδών, έρευνα και διά βίου μάθηση, με έμφαση στη σύνδεση με την αγορά εργασίας και σε συνεργασίες με ιδρύματα, ερευνητικούς οργανισμούς και παραγωγικούς τομείς.»
