«Το Πανεπιστήμιο Μακεδονίας είναι το δεύτερο και νεότερο πανεπιστήμιο της Θεσσαλονίκης, ειδικευμένο στις οικονομικές, διοικητικές και κοινωνικο-πολιτικές επιστήμες. Ιδρύθηκε με το Προεδρικό Διάταγμα 147/10-4-1990 ως μετεξέλιξη της Ανωτάτης Βιομηχανικής Σχολής Θεσσαλονίκης, που λειτούργησε για πρώτη φορά το ακαδημαϊκό έτος 1957-1958. Έχει πάνω από 12.000 φοιτητές, τέσσερις Σχολές και οκτώ Τμήματα, όλα στη Θεσσαλονίκη.»
